Our international projects
Our international projects
The Dutch Council for Refugees (DCR) is committed to protecting and integrating refugees and asylum seekers in Europe and Curaçao. We share our knowledge and expertise with local organisations in other countries and support them financially. In this way, they can offer the best possible help on the spot. Together, we stand up for the rights of refugees.
Examples of our international support
Our current projects support:
- Capacity building for local NGOs through the Step Up Fund;
- Supporting local organisations and refugee led organisations in southeastern region of Türkiye in improving their capacities through Step Up Turkiye;
- Reducing the negative effects of trauma on the social inclusion of refugees and migrants, in addition to improving the mental health of NGO staff and volunteers working with these vulnerable groups through Caring to Include;
- Supporting the establishment of Human Rights Defense Curaçao for better protection of Venezuelan refugees on the island;
- Working together with the NGO Caminando Fronteras against pushbacks and to improve asylum policies in Spain.
- Developing a database with the Cyprus Council for Refugees (CyRC) to help more refugees in Cyprus.
Support refugees worldwide
Everyone deserves protection, no matter where they are. We support local partner organisations outside the Netherlands with funding, legal expertise and knowledge-sharing. Because together, we can make a greater impact. Want to support our international efforts?
A dignified treatment is not a luxury: it is a right for everyone, including those who flee to Curaçao. Together with DCR, we continue to fight for a system where human rights truly apply to all.
Simone de Brabander, directeur Human Rights Defense Curaçao
