Step Up project: support for Congolese integration

The Congolese Community of Greece supports the integration of migrants, refugees and Greeks with a Congolese background into Greek society.

How we work together

With support from the Step Up Fund, the organisation is working to expand online legal services and knowledge development for fundraising and communication. The goal is to reach as many people as possible in the long term, in their own and other communities.

What does the Congolese Community of Greece do?

The organisation, which has been officially registered since 2008, supports the integration of migrants, refugees and Greeks with a Congolese background into Greek society.

They advocate for the rights of migrants and refugees, provide language classes and professional development training, and organise social services and cultural activities. In doing so, they often collaborate with other refugee communities in Greece.

Background

Refugees and migrants in Greece face complex ever-changing legislation, COVID-related restrictions, xenophobia and a lack of access to most basic necessities of life. And NGOs are providing less and less legal assistance. The lack of legal aid means that refugee communities have to provide for their own translation, housing and other basic needs.
